Hope for Young People: Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day!
Youth is a gift! A fleeting gift. A scary, at times, gift. Many young ones who lack experience or knowledge or support during the crucial child/teen/young adult years face life-threatening challenges. We all face choice every day. With so many (complex) choices with (far-reaching) consequences facing young ones–it can be like jumping in the ocean without knowing how to swim. The thing about it is who of us: older or younger hasn’t made a “poor” choice because we lacked hope or big picture view of things or kind support.
All of us are an on-going beautiful work of art in progress. Each child can succeed in life’s journey with compassion education, help, support and wisdom! What can we personally do to support the children in our respective communities not just survive, but thrive? And keep swimming safely in the ocean of life? (Life guards help.)
It’s noteworthy that many Younger Ones are succeeding in life in so many outstanding ways despite adversity or health challenges! Today, May 7th, 2015 is National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day:
“National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day will address the needs of children, youth, and young adults with mental health or mental health and substance use challenges and their families. A national event will take place on May 7, 2015, at the Lansburgh Theatre in Washington, DC. The national event will highlight strategies for integrating behavioral health with primary health care, child welfare, and education.”
